Martin Tchiba on his new album puzzle, post, poire:
“In these 15 pieces I essentially use three types of ‘ingredients’: piano tones, genuinely electronic material and urban field recordings (from Hungary, Germany, Austria and Belgium). Several of the compositions are interwoven among each other in a variety of ways—nevertheless, they are highly diverse, ranging between utterly complex, enigmatic and rather pure, at times even minimalist structures. I also see the album as a (partly implicit) declaration of love to the city as a musical space of ideas …
The pieces pp 1 to 4 (tracks 5, 8, 11 and 14) form a ‘special unit’ within the album since—in contrast to the other tracks, which are essentially thought as ‘acousmatic’ music—I understand them primarily as piano pieces, albeit with distinctive electronic ‘interjections’.
All the pieces (tracks) can be listened to separately as stand-alone works; likewise, there’s—naturally—the dramaturgical context of the entire forty-minute-long cycle.”

„In diesem Set aus 15 kurzen Kompositionen bewege ich mich im Spannungsfeld zwischen »blankem« Digital-Sound und rauschhaftem Lo-Fi; »echte« Klavierklänge treffen auf genuin elektronisches Material und urbane Field Recordings. Der Weg von komplex ausexperimentierten Materialschichtungen zu einfachsten Strukturen (und andersherum) führt dabei stellenweise ins Absurd-Enigmatische …
Nicht zuletzt verstehe ich das Album auch als (teils implizite) Liebeserklärung an die Stadt als musikalischen Ideen-Raum – und dann sind da noch ein Obst und ein danach …
Die Stücke pp 1 bis 4 bilden innerhalb des Albums insofern eine »special unit«, als dass ich sie – im Unterschied zu den anderen, im Wesentlichen als »akusmatische« Musik gedachten Tracks – vorrangig als Klaviermusik verstehe, allerdings mit markanten elektronischen »Zwischenrufen«.
Die fünfzehn Stücke auf dem Album können jeweils als eigenständige, in sich geschlossene Stücke Werke gehört werden. Natürlich gibt es gleichermaßen den dramaturgischen Kontext des rund vierzigminütigen Gesamt-Zyklus’ puzzle, post, poire.“
